Okay, this issue has been on my mind recently and I thought I'd air it out here and see what you gentlemen think. As most of you are no doubt aware, oral sex is very popular among a lot of people for various reasons: it's quick and impersonal, there's no chance of pregnancy, it's not "real" sex but rather just fun, and more importantly, it's "safe" - i.e, it's got a supposedly low risk of sexually transmitted infections.

Well, I've been reading up on safe sex recently and I came across a lot of studies showing oral sex to be a cause of not just common STIs but also throat cancer. While there are different angles to this issue, i.e, giving/receiving, male-on-male/male-on-female etc, I'm specifically curious about the risks involved for a man when getting a blowjob.

1) Simply put, do you guys use a condom or other form of protection when getting head?

a) If yes, did you notice a reduction in pleasure?

b) If no, did you catch anything and what was it?


2) Who do you get BJs from? (Ans: Usually, Occasionally, Very rarely)

a) Steady girlfriend / Wife

b) One night stand chick you pick up in a bar or club

c) Straight / Bisexual / Curious / Married men in public restrooms, parks, truck stops etc

d) Gay guys wanting to blow you

e) Close friend or buddy whom you trust


3) How important is oral sex in your sex life as compared to other forms of sex like fucking pussy, frot etc?

a) Very important - It is my primary mode of sexual satisfaction

b) Not as important - I like other things more but sex isn't complete without it

Personally, and this is just my two cents, whenever I hear any "xyz has been linked to abc cancer" I generally shrug it off. Cancer has been shown to be genetic. Yes, there is skin cancer and lung cancer etc where other factors clearly do have a strong influence on the likelihood of cancer, but given the medical profession don't understand how to cure cancer, how can they claim to know what causes it? It's a bit like how I switch off whenever I hear the words "economists predict". Where were the reports of economists predicting the GFC before it happened?

That said, there are ways you can contract STIs from giving and receiving blowjobs without protection. I wouldn't put too much onus on what others do, but I'd simply think about what 'you' are prepared to do. Because it would have alleviated the ridiculous worry that I felt after the fact, that forever tainted my enjoyment of the experience.

Even if I had been surrounded by a whole lot of people who all said that the risks were minimal and not to worry, I still would have worried, because those articles I read had an affect on me. The fact you are worrying about it suggests that you might well end up thinking the same if you do it without protection.

Now... if it's with someone who you know and trust is clean, then I'd say go for it and enjoy it all natural.

The thing is, whenever I get hit on by a guy, 90% of the time he wants to give me head and have me cum down his throat. Even if we do nothing else.
And given the fact that I'm young and virile (aka horny), I have a hard time turning down these offers. I have consistently declined these propositions however, except for two occasions when I caved. And even on those two occasions, I was careful not to cum inside his mouth - for two reasons: one, apparently infections can travel up your suddenly non-acidic urethral passage, and two, I'd feel shitty for letting myself get blown by some stranger once I came down from the sexual high.
But yeah, the threat of disease restrains my ardor even when the threat of feeling-shitty-afterwards does not.

Condoms do destroy a lot of the detail in the sensations, yes. Although this was generally when I was jacking off daily or more. I would imagine that, with a couple of weeks' worth of AB in front of it, I wouldn't care so much and would enjoy the experience for what it is worth.

The only times I have ever been sucked off while wearing condoms were when I got head from hookers. They put them on out of necessity, so never complained about the taste. I have, however, had partners who told me they don't like the taste in their mouth.

End of the day though, this is not about what they are prepared to do, it's about you. If you make it a rule that you wont let a stranger go down on you without covering up first, his choices are either to agree to do that, or not to give you head at all if he doesn't like those conditions.

Yes - condoms disrupt sensation for the recipient, and the "pleasure" for the one providing the service. It is definitely the safer way to go if engaging in this kind of congress with a stranger. HPV will be one of your very least concerns for a homosexual male interaction. Myself, I would be more worried about HIV or even a bacterial oral infection of a typical STI bug. Since it's typically not a good conversation piece to ask the person offering the oral sex for permission to inspect their mouth for open sores (HIV) or evidence of bacterial infection, I suppose the moral of the story is that if you dislike the use of condoms during oral sex (on either end), then find a person whose health you can trust, and perhaps avoid the promiscuous interactions. That's a tough truth, given the propensity of the gay community to enjoy the trappings of the casual encounter, but for me personally, my health comes before my sexual appetites.
