I was thinking more about my theory, and you're right, Texanguy. The 84 day sperm maturation period is irrelevant considering immature sperm are not ejaculated and sperm production is constant.

What should matter with my theory is the 20 day life span of the mature sperm. But this doesn't coincide with anything, EXCEPT for the wet dream cycle that Ron seems to be experiencing. He seems to be getting wet dreams every 21-26 days. If he stays in this pattern, he should be getting his next wet dream by the end of this week or early next week. It'll be interesting to see if it happends then.

What will be more interesting is when Mike will get his next wet dream. I wonder if he'll be on the same 20-25 day cycle that Ron is? If so, he would get his next wet dream around Sept. 15th.-22nd.

Hopefully everyone will stick with the program, because we need more data! It would be good if Socks came back to the board, because he was experiencing wet dreams, right?

Re: Mike/Feelings

Mike:

>>It would be very interesting to know how long it takes for you to experiment a wet dream. I think there is no "physical" reason why you cannot have it within 45 days like me, as we have very similar characteristics, except the fact that you are blond and white, and my hair is black and I'm kind of brown. <<

Well, I hope you're right! I'm excited about this project, and really feel motivated to quit masturbating completely to have a wet dream, or hopefully many.

>>Interestingly, I also had a varicocele surgery 4 years ago. <<

That is interesting! What are the chances we both had varicoceles and both had the surgery at the about the same time? That's pretty amazing. I'm glad to hear the varicocele and the surgery didn't effect the wet dream capability, since you just had one. My wet dream at age 19 was obviously well before my varicocele surgery, and was actually around the time my varicocele just became noticeable to me. So I don't think varicoceles have any impact on wet dreams at all one way or the other. For what its worth though, the time I went 60 days without masturbating before was during a period when my varicocele was quite large several years before the surgery, so I don't know if my varicocele was inhibiting my wet dream capability at the time or not. Since the surgery, the longest I've gone without masturbating was only about 1 month.

>>I had my semen tested, and I kept the results: 5ml of sperm with 150 million spermatozoids per ml. A little bit above average, although these things are really variable. <<

That's WAY above average. So that's a total of 750 million sperm in the ejaculate?? The average is 200-400 million for a total ejaculation. Do you remember how long you abstained from ejaculating before you had the test? They recommend at least 3-4 days abstinence - did you wait longer?

Guys

Mike, your observations are interesting, and maybe you are on a cycle of some kind, possibly related to the 20 day life of mature sperm that Focus mentioned. Perhaps there is some kind of hormonal cycle based on that. Maybe we will find that Mike and Ronald are on about the same cycle. (Where are Ronald's posts lately?)

But there seems to be another, shorter cycle for some people who have posted about their wet dreams and don't masturbate. The percentage is impossible to know, but it seems that a good number of them have 2 to 3 wet dreams a week, although most of them also seem to be in their late teens and early 20's. This coincides with the time it takes to get a 'full load' of semen.

You new guys have seen us allude to deleted posts. Before we got this active group going, two guys had posted who had quit masturbating for 'spiritual reasons'. One posted that his wet dreams started 3-4 months after quitting. The other guy went into more detail. He avoided all waking erotic stimulus as much as possible. He did not say how long he had to wait before his wet dreams started, but he did say he never had any before. He said he now has a wet dream about 5 or 6 times a month (about every 5 or 6 days).

So it may very well be that some kind of chemical or hormonal peak helps kick off wet dreams, but I also think that the brain can play an overriding part. A few people even have wet dreams almost every night, and sometimes even two in one night. They must be almost empty of semen, low in sperm count, and seemingly immune to hormonal cycles.

I think there's no 'physical' reason why anyone couldn't have a wet dream as often as it takes to get a full load of semen. All it really takes is the right 'nerve pathways' in the brain to activate sexual arousal and orgasm in a dream while asleep.

People who never masturbated seem to have that 'nerve pathway' intact, and I think it's still there in all of us. We all normally have REM activity and erections while asleep every night.

I'm starting to think that some kind of visualization techniques might help a great deal. They can help 'program' the brain in other areas, why not this one? After all, what is the difference between a person who has frequent wet dreams and one who has none, especially if neither masturbate?

So while we support each other in the 'first prerequisite' of not masturbating, and we are at the whim of hormonal cycles, I wonder if we might be able to think of more ways to get the 'brain part' doing it's thing?
