Wet Dreams

Ok guys, I have a question, how many guys in here masturbate. I dont and I have wet dreams. I am 31. I have a friend who doesnt masturbate either, he is 21 and we have wet dreams almost at the same time of the month. Anyone else our ages still have wet dreams?

I'm 61 and I still masturbate regularly.

My wife - who I love deeply but who finds sex messy and boring - has signed off. Now and again, I find a male lover and, on good days, we love well together.

Inbetweentimes, I masturbate (self use, not self abuse, a friend once said).

It's not the same but it releases the pressure.

I've quit mastrubating for about 5 weeks now and I haven't had a single wet dream. I'm 15 too so i don't now when i should be expecting one any time soon or not.

I'm 40 years old, and I still have wet dreams 1 or 2 times a month. I don't like masturbating, since with wet dreams, you can get guilt-free enjoyment. I'm glad I have them.

How to have wet dreams

I've had a few wet dreams in my life, and would like a lot more. I've done some research on the web, based on writings submitted on boards by people who have wet dreams, including people who either started, stopped, or went back and forth between having lots of wet dreams and not having them.

There are always exceptions, everybody's different, but IN GENERAL:

-By far, most people who have lots of wet dreams DON'T MASTURBATE AT ALL. Some of them used to masturbate all the time and never had (many) wet dreams before they quit, but now have lots of wet dreams. 'Lots' can be several a week. Almost everyone else has few or no wet dreams. There is a big 'gulf', with few people in between.

-Many people who have exciting sex in their sleep several times a week that feels better than masturbation have no desire to masturbate. Makes sense!

-Lots of people would like to have wet dreams, but trying to hold off masturbating for a while usually results in frustrating cravings and no wet dreams.

-Yet other people stop masturbating and start having lots of wet dreams.

There appears to be two main reasons for this apparent contradiction:

-The 'time delay' between quitting masturbation and having lots of wet dreams varies, but is often several months.

-There is a difference between 'holding off' and 'quitting'. If you 'hold off' from masturbating, you'll miss it and crave it. If you 'quit' masturbating, you simply put it out of your mind, and it's no longer an option.

So if you are not having wet dreams, it looks like you have to 'kick' the masturbation habit completely. Don't think about it, don't want it, don't like it (obviously a lengthy transition period!). But once you kick it, and you wait long enough, you'll very likely start having LOTS of wet dreams.

These are observations, not personal experience. But it has convinced me of one thing: I'm kicking the masturbation habit!!!

I stopped masturbating a year ago. Generally I have 6 wet dreams a month on average.

It most likely makes masturbation easier not to do, but it isn't the motivation for quitting. I quit for spiritual reasons.

Yes, I never really had wet dreams when I was masturbating (without restraint)

I quit mostly by just deciding adamantly never to do it again. I also kept a close reign on the things I looked at, watched, etc...generally the leadup to masturbation would be excitement due to some visual stimulus...you cut that out and it's half the battle right there. Forcing yourself to tell a close friend that you've done it also helps...what Christians would call an "accountability partner".

-How do your wet dreams compare in feelings, excitement, intensity, etc, to when you used to masturbate?

I never really had wet dreams while masturbating. There was a period where I was masturbating much less frequently (trying to stop but not quite succeeding), and I don't remember having many wet dreams then either. I would say that the dreams I have now are more intense.

-Would you ever consider going back to masturbating and giving up wet dreams? (Anecdotal evidence says very few people do.)

No. Again, I quit for spiritual reasons. Wet dreams are pretty much beyond my control, while masturbation is not.

-Would you recommend that people make the effort to quit masturbation completely in order to enjoy lots of wet dreams?

I'd recommend quitting because it gives you a greater degree of control over your sexual desires. There is a certain agitation with strongly desiring women you cannot have, and being relieved of that somewhat gives you a degree of peace that is nice. I think there is greater pleasure to be had in masturbating than having wet dreams, simply because you can do it far more often, and control what you want to do. Wet dreams do have a realistic feel to them, but are too infrequent for me to say they are worth quitting mbing for.

-Do you have recommendations on how best to make the transition? Help us people who want lots of wet dreams out!

Firmly decide not to do it again. Set a goal of a month. Don't watch porn, don't look at porn mags (Maxim included), don't look at women you know you will have sexual fantasies about. Attempt to remove all sexual thinking from your thoughts, as this will lead to masturbation. Good luck.

I have a theory about why 'holding off' from masturbating doesn't easily get you a wet dream.

If you 'hold off' masturbating while awake trying to have a wet dream, you are basically telling your brain 'no sex'. Your brain therefore won't have 'sex' in a wet dream while asleep, either, since it thinks it's awake at the time! I looks like you have get past that by quitting masturbation completely for a long time, to let your brain and body get back the the 'natural' way -- wet dreams.

A few people 'easily' hold off masturbating and go back and forth between masturbating and waiting only a few days before having wet dreams again. It may just be that these people really stop masturbating and enjoy their wet dreams for weeks or months on end. In other words, these people may really be 'wet dreamers' who 'occasionally' masturbate, but are not 'hooked' on masturbation

But whether that's true or not, the 'anecdotal evidence' indicates that the situation is different for the vast majority of people, who have few or no wet dreams, and may want lots of them.

Virtually the only way people have successfully transitioned from having no wet dreams to having lots of them was by completely quitting masturbation first -- not just 'holding off'!

Like it or not, if a person wants lots of wet dreams, it seems they'd have to do likewise. Search the web yourself if you want -- there is no other way to go from having no wet dreams to having lots of them other than by quitting masturbating completely! You can't 'hold off', you have to quit.

Observations? Comments?

There is something quite fascinating about having lots of exciting sex in your sleep to people who very rarely if ever have wet dreams, and can't stop masturbating. Would you recommend that people make the effort to quit masturbation completely in order to enjoy lots of wet dreams?

Questions for people who masturbate and have few if any wet dreams:

-If you started having several wet dreams a week which were more exciting and intense than masturbation, would you still bother with masturbation, or lose all interest in it? Especially if masturbation made you have less of these wet dreams?

-If there was a step by step recipe that GUARANTEED lots of great orgasms in wet dreams, and part of that process was to quit masturbating completely, would you do it?

Myself, I want lots of wet dreams, and I'm tired of masturbation anyway. The next step is now pretty obvious... If I make it, I'm not going back!

Thanks for your input. It's been about a month for me, but no wet dreams so far. But like you, I've gotten to 'almost quitting' before.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who is curious: How long did you stop masturbating before you started having wet dreams? Did you go suddenly to 6 per month, or did it start out slowly and work up to that frequency?

Does anyone else have input on how and when they went from no wet dreams to having them?

It's clear from postings that some people just aren't 'into' masturbation. It's not all rigid denial or 'guilt', it's overall preference. About 5% of people have never masturbated, and more used to but quit.

Inducing frequent and regular solo orgasms is not necessary for survival in the same way eating food or drinking fluids is. The fact that even some 15 year olds stop masturbating implies that not everyone feels the same way about it.

'Gratifying the sex urge' by masturbation is not the only way to experience solo erotic feelings. I'm sure I'm not the only one who may have been too busy or preoccupied at one time or another to keep up with their normal 'masturbation schedule', and then went on to experiment with seeing what it feels like to go without it for a while. It can become a personal 'challenge' and an erotic experience in its own right to see how long a person can go without masturbating. Trying to get a wet dream they haven't had in a long time (or never before) can be added motivation.

Perhaps some 'experimenters' who enjoy the erotic feelings they get when postponing masturbation might start to feel that masturbation is pretty boring and immature, and even become personally opposed to it.

Some of these people may also start to have 3-4 wet dreams a week that feel better and more intense to them than masturbation. It's not that hard to imagine that some people may conclude it's more 'mature' and enjoyable not to masturbate, especially if they have intense wet dreams instead -- even if they could have more total orgasms a week by masturbating.

Different 'strokes' (or maybe none at all) for different folks!

I've read several posts by boys who say they are 15, and have stopped masturbating. When I was that age, I masturbated about 20 times a week, and was not the worse for it. Why would anyone that age want to stop? Gratifying the sex urge is not a vice, especially when it is done throgh masturbation which involves no one other than the masturbator (usuallY). As to wet dreams, even with robust orgasms, I still had about one wet dream a month. These usually occurred after a heavy kissing and feeling encounter with a girl friend.

Would you like to tell us your erection size? All the rest of us have. Mine and Texanguy's are both 6 inches, and Dickensen's is 5.5 inches. So Dickensen thinks his is the smallest. Also, what was the longest time you'd gone before without masturbating? I know you're doing good now.

Certainly I'm going to tell you guys my erection size. Well, it's just 5.6 inches (I'm now the smallest, Dickenson, with your addition of 0.3 inches); 4.0 inches when flaccid; 4.9 inches around erect; 3.6 inches around flaccid; uncut; angle is 35 degrees from vertical. Yes I think you measured right. I don't know about the balls. But mine are about the size of walnuts, and my left one hangs the lowest.
