I had the long awaited for wd this morning

I woke up about six AM and checked out chat... it was a little quiet and after a bit I was only one left. It was about 7 am then. I was really tired and still in bed so I just went back to sleep. A little while later I realized I was having an erotic dream and was right at the point of waking. I woke up and started ejaculating. Normally I would have gotten up immediately to clean up but I was so tired I fell right back asleep. Then I woke up about 8:30. I still remembered dream but was unsure if it was a real wet dream. (I have had my share of erotic dreams that feel so real but are completely dry.)

I checked things out and confirmed my shorts were 'spooged'

It is awesome to know my brain can still figure out wd's even though it has been years since I last had one. It has been:

13 days since last MB
70 days since I started this abstaining effort
5 years since last wd

How do you guys think i should track this one for days?

In 2006 is that last year I have good records of timing. That time it took:

14 days since last MB
5 months since I started abstaining effort
28 years (about) since last wd

I will plan to add a few more thoughts in a future post.

Thanks for noticing my 4th of July WD. Your support and the support of the forum is great.

I find my self asking if my experiement of abstaining with occasional MB worked. On a quick check it would seem that it may have. When I first tried abstaining 6 years ago, I had two periods where I abstained for 60 days. All together it took 5 months to get to a wd in 2006. This time, in 2012, I never went more than about a month between mbs and it only took 70 days in total. I can think of several factors that may have contributed to getting a wd quicker in 2012:

1 - Randomness of wet dreams occuring.
2 - shorter abstaining periods for 2nd attempt in 2012.
3 - better conditioning of the brain for 2012, because it learned and maybe remembered how to get wd from 2006 experience.
4 - almost totally abstaining from porn in 2012, vs quite a bit in 2006. (Interesting to note I was traveling and seeing no porn when I did finally get wd in 2006.)
5- less edging for 2012 (When I started abstaining in 2006, I edged many times. For 2012 I was able to control to the point that there was essensially no edging.)


Some would say that older guys are less likely to get wd or have to wait longer. Based on data I have looked on for other forum members, age has only a slight affect on how long it takes to get wd's. Other factors certainly have a greater influence on time to get to a wet dream. My case of being 6 years older, yet getting wd's quicker tends to support a theory that advancing age has little or no impact on how quickly wet dreams can be started.

In summary, it is possible that the occasional mb helped get a wd faster, but it is just as likely that avoiding edging and porn were equally or more important in getting a wd more quickly. Does anyone else have any thoughts for things that could have helped me in getting to wd's quicker in 2012?

Congratulations TG for all your success. I agree that age and WD are weakly correlated. I would say may be teststrone levels makes a difference and studies showed that the level of testosterone is also weakly correlated with age (but strongly negatively correlated with stress and other life factor). So are you happier in 2012? do you have less stress than 2006? It might be a factor.

Since these have more to do with the mind and brain chemistry, which I am beginning to believe has as much if not more to do with wd than the amount of semen "stored up", I would guess they are likely candidates. In addition, d11 mentioned stress, which affects both brain & body chemistry. I'm no expert in this area, so it's just my speculation.

Interesting insight to another possible difference. I am unsure what my testosterone levels are now vs. 2006. One reason I wanted to do an occasional mb was to occasionally bump up testosterone levels.

I excerecised more in 2006 which if I remember correctly should help somewhat with highter testosterone levels

As far as stress. I would say it was slightly lower in 2012 than in 2006. For 2012 I am working fewer hours and work is a little easier at the moment. Also travel is less busy this year than in 2006.

I agree. I think other pieces of evidence are the guys that reporting the following:

Getting a wd the same day or just one day after mb'ing
Getting more than one wd the same night.

I hang my head in shame today. The last few days I have drifted back to porn. This morning my hand violated the hands off policy and pressed against things below. My brain got my hand away but a few minutes later it was back pressing where it did not belong. After a brief moment a runaway situation began. My brain once again retrieved my hand... but alas it was too late.

So zero days since last MB. How humbling

So last week was an abstaining disaster. I MB'd twice! . I was so embarassed that I hardly wanted to post. The second MB was on Saturday and it has taken me almost a week to get the ambition to post. Fortunately I went right back to abstaining and have so far successfully made it another week. Thanks overload and suspense for you words of encouragement. So for now here are stats.

Congrats on having made it a week now

I hope you haven't been struggling too much with the desires for porn and edging during the past week: I had found that during my AB periods, once I started to fall back into porn it was like an avalanche, but then usually if I was able to stay away for a week the temptation subsided some (but, alas never goes away entirely).

I am happy to report that I have had a stretch of successful abstaining and have done no mb'ing for over 3 weeks. Thanks again to everyone that offered encouragement, both here and in chat. Here is latest status:

So still holding out for next wd.

In meantime I decided to change beard. I have had it since Lent of 2011. Today I trimmed it down to just goatee and mustache. (I wanted to see how it would look and I liked it.) Tomorrow I am trimming the rest off to see what I get for comments from people that know me. I got lots of compliments from people that liked my beard when I grew it. So I am curious to see if after a year plus, I get some compliments for REMOVING my beard. This will be a chance for any beard haters to compliment my clean shaven face. It is kind of interesting to once again feel the skin on my face.

I will see what people say.

Hey TG long time no see!

I went to work today with no beard. This is the first time I have been clean shaven in year and a half. I felt slightly naked

Some people said nothing. Some staired at new look. One guy said I looked much younger. And one person said I looked like two diferent people with and without beard.

It was interesting to feel my face for first time in a year and a half... Felt smooth this morning. Now it feels like sandpaper.

Plan to be clean cut for about a month to see what i get for comments then go back to beard.... I missed it today whenever I saw myself in mirror.

95 - thanks for beard suggestion. Still missing it. (Didn't shave today. So went to work with 1 day stubble. It was kind of like a personal protest for me currently having no beard. Now that i have had beard, I no longer feel like I have to shave every day.) Have had only a few comments from being clean shaven. Definetly got a LOT more when I grew beard.

Have contitued to abstain and now have gone 30 days with no ejac.

Things were a little more interesting this morning. When I woke up I was super wound up. After a bit I did the morning run to bathroom and discovered three distinct cum spots in shorts!

So no wet dream but brain and body must have at least brought things close to limit... Brain must be doing WD edging now! LOL

Thank for words of encouragment and noticing new avatar.

Still succesffully abstaing and still waiting for next wd.

Today I studied my hand written journal and looked back at my wet dreams going back to 2006. I found an interesting pattern that really struck me. May help to sort out wet dreams. I plan to post what I found in near future.
