I am about to apply for campus housing, so to all those in college out there, coed or single gender? My college offers both.
Some specific questions:

Are coed dorms distracting?
Pros cons of both.
Is sex more likely in one or the other? I gay sex common in single gender dorms?

Other than this, any experiences you want to share, to help me decide.

I wish I could sleep in a dorm.

I would choose coed. I would say that sex, whether gay or not, is common in both. There probably would be more gay sex in the single gender dorms than coed, but that is just what I think. I have absolutely no evidence one way or the other.

I am in a coed Dorm and cannot stand it any longer, to much drama from both men and women... -.-
I am living off campus next year (senior year) so I will be able to concentrate on my studies and everything else and not drama.
I have a single Dorm Room which is really nice since I am not desecrated by a roommate and his friends, but now only my TV is a distraction lol.

So that is all up to you mate.
I would choose a Coed dorm. There is still going to be sex, gay or straight so just get over that fact and you will be fine. Have fun in your Freshmen year!

Ultimately, it depends on your disposition. If studying is your priority the gender ratio in your dorm doesn't matter. As to sex, here where I live, people are more discreet. But, if people wanna have sex in their dorm rooms they will. There's nothing you can do about it. If it gets loud, just let them know that you can hear as embarrassing as that may be.

The people above me woke me up a couple of times as I heard their bed rocking against the wall. No moaning or anything like. Just the bed.

I can only speak for the university I'm studying at since each university and college has their own culture and each country has their own (mixture of) cultures. But, ultimately, it boils down to how dedicated you are with regards to your work/studies. Will you let stuff and people distract you?

I prefer same sex dorms because I enjoy chilling in my underwear and not having to care if there is a girl around. I also don't want to have to deal with higher horniness from seeing girls everywhere plus their stupid drama.

first one I thought of was waking up to hearing one of my roommates humping his mattress. We are best buds and I had a good laugh about it in the morning. He also would forget his under ware in the bathroom from showering so I always saw when He had a wet dream. That was not the most pleasant habit of his.

I would choose an all male dorm, but then, I'm gay, so I'm likely biased!
