Really? Wow, that must have changed. I grew up in the LA school system, and we never showered. I think at the high school level, the guys who were on actual sports teams might of, but not those of us just in regular P.E.

I don't think it's a bad idea, as long as there are ppl there to make sure that kids don't fight in the showers, etc. Someone could get really hurt there with slippery hard surfaces. (Again, thinking w/my L.A. mentality). But yeah, although kids would feel awkward at first, ppl would realize that we all come in different shapes and sizes and it's no big deal. I take showers at the gym sometimes, and it's not a big deal at all.

I went to school in Orange County and even though we had showers, no one used them (in middle school at least). In fact, we weren't even given enough time to use them.

I played polo in high school, so when we showered, we just wore our speeds (the chlorine had to be rinsed from them or they would deteriorate). Not sure what the other sports or PE did.

yah ive had a shower with other guys at high school after pe and after martal arts never had a problem with it but i think some lads are too self conscious about them selfs which is kind of sad in a way com on nothing bad happens in open showers just naked people washing them selfs so what if some one pops a boner it happens big deal and yes ive pissed in the pool i think most people have done that but not in a open shower

Well as a kid I showered with my dad, granpa and my cousins.

As an adult I have showered with other males in locker rooms after being in a pool or beach, and after a workout. I've done so because wither I need to get chlorine or salt out of my body or to be clean after a workout and not smell. Some showers have divisions others not. And I usually get naked like everybody else, we are all males, although I've known some that are afraid of being watched.

I can say I like it. Showers and nudity are the two things that most turn me on, so sometimes I've had boners, but it's normal, everyone does. Although the rule of thumb is to keep your sight at eye level, all of us like to see other males to compare and I have done it, the same way others have done with me. For me it's no big deal and as a secure male I feel great admiring the beauty of others the same way a woman can talk about others boobs or butt and not be a lesbian or anything. The only time I felt horny, was when this guy was drying himself with a towel and his junk kind of was jumping up and down, but I managed to be okay.

In Israel, we religious Jews go to what is called a "Mikvah" which is a ritual bath made from naturally flowing water. Theres a Mikvah for guys and one for girls. At the guys Mikvah, it is common for several guys to go into the mikvah together and we all take our clothes off because you have to be nude to enter the water. I go to the Mikvah with friends from time to time because it brings holiness, and purity to you. When we go, we are all nude in front of each other for quite sometime and it is not odd. I mean, we are all guys, we all have the same equipment, why would we need to go and make each other feel odd? I personally do not mind going to the Mikvah because it is a very spiritual action and it is a time with friends.

Yeah, I was in central Europe this last summer and worked at a summer camp. We didn't have open showers exactly.... we had showers which were curtained off, but each shower enclosure had two shower heads, so you were sharing a shower sometimes w/another guy, in private! Even more awkward, haha. But the European guys there were totally comfortable w/it and so I said what the heck and showered w/another guy once. It was not big deal at all, even though we stood maybe 5 inches from each other, bec no one was self-conscious abt it. It was fun, actually bec all of the guys in there were just all goofing around, joking, spraying ea other w/cold water, etc. We just all happened to be naked, haha. But yeah, it was kind of liberating in a way bec you realize that being all uptight and worried and self-conscious abt it is stupid. Like others have said here, we are all guys and we all have the same eqpt. It was just a fun bonding experience and we got clean at the same time. Totally innocent, nothing sexual or inappropriate, just friends goofing off and getting clean.

Apparently that's what guys do over there, not just in school or camp, if a group of adult guys play soccer together, they will all shower together afterwards. They don't see the big deal and it's just part of the ritual and the social aspect of it. Us Americans are the ones who get all worried and make it sexual somehow. Unless you play on a team full of gay men, you don't have anything to worry abt! Like here in the U.S., most guys go home sweaty after working out at the gym. Makes so much sense to shower up while you are still sweaty so you don't go home all nasty. So often now I will take a shower there. But since most guys aren't doing that, sometimes it seems like the only ones who do are either the really old guys who just don't give a rat's @ss anymore or the kind of creepy guys who might have ulterior motives. If more "normal" guys reclaimed that space so to speak, the pervy guys wouldn't be comfortable there and using the gym showers wouldn't be an awkward experience.

The only time I've ever shared a shower was over 30 years ago after PE class at school and, being very body conscious, I used to hate it.

I think I have probably already replied to this thread a long time ago but I will reply again. In the UK not many guys shower together in my experience... or at least not naked. At middle school it was compulsory to shower in communal showers after PE but most of the lads wore there trunks or PE shorts. Then at high school it wasn't compulsory and they were separated and had curtains. Most of the time you barely had enough time to get changed again and walk back to school for your next lesson.

As for gyms I wouldn't be able to tell you much because I never pay to go to those but on the odd occasion that I have been to one most of them have separated sections. At the swimming baths again its the same and people rarely shower naked. In some cases there are signs on the walls saying "Do not shower naked, please respect our guests" so in some cases you aren't allowed too.

I go SCUBA diving every week and the times we are in the swimming pool we use some communal changing area and I find a lot of the older guys don't mind and walk round naked but most of the students shower with swim short or if not shower nude and then grab a towel fairly quickly.

That's about all the experiences I have had. Personally I have to admit I don't feel terribly comfortable showering naked in sight of other guys for fear of popping a boner, but like people say it happens to everyone I guess.

ive heard a few people mention not enough time. at our district our classes are between 57 and 61 min long and we have a shower bell 8 min before the end of class. So you have 8 min to get from wherever you are in PE to the shower and get dressed in time for bell to get dismissed to next class. Can say in 4 years ive never had a problem getting to my next class in time so its really not an issue.

At my school the day worked out something like this:

8:55 - 9:05 Morning Registration
9:05 - 10:05 Lesson 1
10:05 - 11:05 Lesson 2
11:05 - 11:20 Break
11:20 - 12:20 Lesson 3
12:20 - 13:05 Lunch
13:05 - 13:25 Afternoon Registration/Assembly
13:25 - 14:25 Lesson 4
14:25 - 15:25 Lesson 5

There was no time in between the lessons for you to get from one to another. The bell went and you weren't allowed to leave until the teacher said you could. I can remember the phrase "the bell is a signal for me not you, I haven't told you to go anywhere yet!"

As for PE it was at the schools sports centre and it was up the road from the school so you had to walk which took about 5 minutes and there were no bells there other than the fire alarm because it was a completely separate site to the rest of the school.

I couldn't shower in 10 minutes anyway! When I go really quick in the morning it takes me 20 minutes to go in shower and wash my hair and dry myself before I even put any clothes on lol!

Jeez Robert, its not a resort spa. the water comes out in small ice cubes i swear. You jump in spritz yourself with water and GTFO!! If the water was steamy hot and everyone was there for 20 min then everyone would be popping boners especially the 140 guys waiting in line naked for 20 min watching you do your thing.

Haha 20 minutes is quick for me! Trust me, its more like 30 or 40 at least if I'm not getting ready to go out to uni! My showers are always nice and warm too At home I set it to 36c (97f) on the scale but I think it must be hotter because all hot on the valve is about 50c (122f) and I know for sure our hot water is set to 60c (140f) or 65c (149f).

As for uni the shower we have at the house is electric and I always use it on double element number 7 out of 10 and I let it run before I go in so its nice and warm.

At sports centre the main poolside showers are ok but not that warm, but in the communal changing suite that we use for diving they have showers too and they are so powerful and nice and warm. Most of the guys complain and say its too hot but I love it, I stand under it for ages. People say I must be a woman because they like hot showers apparently?

A woman?! Most guys I know like long, hot showers, too... I don't think it's a gender issue, haha

I know, I don't know why they keep saying it lol. But I don't care I like a nice hot shower and stay in for ages. Helps me clear my mind and relax

This post may sound gay but just roll with it.
I think that public showering in high schools was a good thing. Showering in my high school was not mandatory and they didn't really give you enough time so no one ever used them, also they where individual showers. I believe that a public shower would be a very bonding and morally reassuring experience that would also help reduce insecurity. Kids nowadays are very homophobic and seem quite insecure about themselves which i think is a shame. Also it would be nice to have a shower after P.E. to get cleaned up. Just my opinion on the matter. Epic Smilies

I agree with you, i got to shower after sports with the other boys who wished to shower also and it is an open shower. It was great because you would be able to see everyone else peeing in the shower, and we could talk to each other about anything, who wants to talk?

ive showered and had baths with guys my own age i have a girl cousin who i still shower or have baths with. We dont do anything because were cousins and were used to each other so were ok with it.

I've noticed that a lot of guys who responded to showering with other guys are much younger than this old guy. Fropm the time I was in middle school throughout high school and in college, we guys always showered naked in group (we called them gang) showers. It was almost like an initiation for 6th graders to be introduced into the group showers with 7th and 8th graders. Then as a young adult, I once visited a YMCA where all guys swimming were naked. That swim workout continued with a steam room and suana where we were all naked. Some guys did use a towel in the steam room. At this Y we were told when we went there that it was all male and no swim suits were allowed. From some of the posts, I assume that things have changed a lot since I was in school.

Yes, I have. In my school locker room they have showers that have no separation between each one. At first, it was a little awkward and embarrassing but by now I've gotten used to it and it no longer bothers me at all.

it's fine with me. in my old dormitory we have communal showers separated by cubicles with curtains. i have to get used to it while i was in college. i normally MB once everyday in the shower and i find it a challenge to MB there without my dorm mate sensing that i am doing something fishy because i also maintain a low profile back then. it makes me harder down there when some of my dorm mates take a shower at the same time with me. im curious whether they're also MBing there at the same time with me. haha. it dont mind showering at the same time with other guys. we both just need to get cleaned and do our daily businesses.
