Has anyone here ever been put on morphine? Can you describe your experience? I would imagine this wouldn’t be that uncommon since hospitals put people on morphine when they break a leg for example. Often when I’m on codeine my whole body feels sexual. Codeine is the weakest opiate so I was wondering what something as strong as morphine feels like.

It has been almost 20 years, but I had morphine once while in the hospital. Hard to describe the sensation - sort of like floating on a cloud and just being at peace with everything and not really being too concerned with what was going on around me. I don't remember it feeling sexual in any way.

When I take codeine I also experience that floating on a cloud feeling. I thought maybe the whole-body sexual feeling would be more intense on morphine, perhaps like a whole-body orgasm, haha

I'm prescribed slow-release tablets of morphine, and oral liquid. The feeling depends on the dosage. A high dose, which is enough to make me feel it strongly but low enough to not kill me or be dangerous, this feels as follows:

I feel like I'm warm, and feel no pain or discomfort at all. I could walk outside in the freezing cold but feel okay. But I'd prefer to stay in, and listen to music. I can close my eyes and enjoy the warmth and peace. Time passes quickly. My voice is croaky, like I've just awoken from being deeply asleep. I may nod off for a moment or a few minutes, and then come back again. The best thing to do for me is to put my headphones on and listen to a new album; something I love. If I talk to others, I'm hyper-talkative. If I look at my reflection in a mirror, my pupils are small.

Love, peace, warm, safe.

I really want to try oxycodone. I'm not sure how to get them to change me, but I don't want to change and then be stuck on something not as good as morphine.

I haven't, but I have been on codeine. I felt sort of the same feeling... well that is... until it became hard to breathe and I started gasping for air only to find out that I am allergic to it XD

I have had chronic pancreatitis for 6 years and have to be careful about taking pain medicines because I'm a recovering alcoholic. In fact have to be careful about taking anything at all. But I was living in pain regularly and needed something for the chronic abdominal pain and the medicines given were a slippery slope for me. I was referred to a pain clinic where they set me up with Avinza. It has been a true blessing! I have no euphoria, drugged feeling, cravings or any problems or side effects with Avinza. It takes care of the pain for the full 24 hours, and I do have Percocet as needed for breakthrough. I have been on the regimen for several years now and have not had to increase the dose. It has given me my quality of life back.

You feel unfazed--sort of like the "on a cloud" sensation others referred to. It can be addictive though. When I was taken off my painkillers, I did have a weird sort of "craving" to be on them again. No change in sexual sensation though.
