I'm sure someone has posted this before, but I thought that it was interesting that WD's are mentioned in the bible! Its from one of the law books which lists what is clean and unclean (periods make people ceremonially unclean for example). So I dont think the bible is saying they are evil, the purpose of the law is to create a set of rules that help people to see the difference between them and God.

Anyway, seems like people have been having WD's a long long time!

Absolutely, they are a very natural thing, apparently as natural as so many other things, such as a woman's monthly cycle, which would make her unclean for a specific time period as well. Thanks for bringing this up!
