ok, pretend that i only know 4 surahs. can i say the surahs over and over when i do my taraweeh prayer?

A'salaam ‘alaykum wa rahmat-Allaahi wa barakaatuh Brother. In answer to your question: I think you can. As I heard from a scholar on TV, Tarawah prayer consists of Nafillah prayers. Ofcourse the prayer itself its Sunnah, some people do 20 rakkah, other people to 8 but there isnt a set amount - I know that is minumum tho (coz you can't like do 4 rakkah lol).

Regarding the surahs, Dr Zakir Naik quotes: "That during namaz and prayers, one can recite any surah they choose after surah al fatihah, but it must be one other". For example: You begin the namaz and read Surah Al Fatihah, and then normally read Surah Ikhlas. But you can swap this particular surah for another such as Surah Asr, An Nas, Al Faluq or Al Kaulther etc etc. What I tend to do (since I only know three surahs of by heart) is read al fatihah, then either read Al Asr or Al Kauther or Ikhlas.

Dr Zakir Naik also states that Tarawah prayers doesnt have to be recited with the Q'uran, if you only know I set Surah, I think yes you can say them over. My dad for instance when he reads namaz always recites Surah Ikhlas (as it is the only one he knows of by heart. Hope this answers your question. Please check these things up with a infomrativeislamic site or muslim channel or talk to the local imam as I may be wrong.

there is in general in the whole year a prayer after isha prayer called al qiyaam prayer and its time is after isha prayer directly till the azan of al fajr prayer , so u can pray it in any time during this limit , and u can sleep after isha prayer and wake up before fajr prayer with 2 hours , an hour , 30 minutes to pray this prayer , in this case it is called tahajud

so tahjud is the prayer u pray after waking up from sleep after isha prayer,,,, and it is still name al qiyaam prayer ,,, and the purpose of the name al qiyaam is the prayer better for him to stand along time in the prayer ad read long verses of al quran ( al qiyaam is arabic word means standing )
