I know many have attempted the 2017-AB challenge. Going a full year is a challenge and takes a lot of strength and will power.

Regardless on your current status, I'm opening up the 40 day / lent AB challenge.

Choose your own goals

1) free from MB
2) free from all conscious releases (MB including SE and HF)
3) free from sex
4) free from porn
5) free from material provoking sexual thoughts
6) free from *insert your challenge here*

I'm personally going for 1-4. I'd toss #5 in but sometimes it is hard to avoid and I'm too weak at this point.

not sure that relevant to mr, being on Day252 So i'm not sure 40 more days of AB would be an issue
being not religious that would 40 days AB chalenge, not "lent 40 days chalenge"
but there are two point i would rule out for me:
2) i have HF/SE i don't see reasonable way to stop that when it happen (i don't want to hurt myself to stop an SE, and i had retrograde ejac. once in the past .... causing brown semen, which mean old blood, thus bleeding, i don't want that again)
5) of course because i don't want to stay away from forum/chatroom for 40 days
but why not

I'm doing this with option 2, no "release" (ejaculation) other than any WD I might get. It's really 46 days by the calendar. Basically, the Sundays don't count in the 40 days of Lent. But got to abstain on those Sundays too to make this a real challenge/sacrifice. I'm against porn videos, etc. So I don't watch or purposely try to look at that stuff anyway.

Good catch. We can't leave that loophole in place

I'm gonna go for 1-4 as well. Even though I've tried it every year since I started mbing and failed every year, maybe this will be my time to break my best ever stretch of 30 days!

Doing 1-4 and attempting at 5, though some art websites I look at tend to have some questionable content. If we're all still in, currently Day 13 of Lent.

What else have you guys given up? Does anyone have religious motivation?

Am doing the AB Challenge before Lent started and was hoping to get a WD during/after 40days of Lent.
I'm for 1-5, because avoiding looking up on these materials helps, although i'm not sure if it counts encountering it by accident.

Chatting with some of the folks in the chatroom, and everyone is still in it, which is great news.

I couldn't think of anything else to give up or take on prior to start of lent, so maybe next year. This was a definite one to try for

Hey guys, Day 18 of Lent. Anyone else still going?

I've had the chance to think about my motivations for doing certain things, some of the activities I do that can lead me into temptation, that sort of stuff. I think we often move so fast in life and distract ourselves so much with meaningless tasks that we rarely have a chance to think of our thoughts as consequential. So having a moment to do some meta-cognition is something I plan on doing more of for the remainder of Lent.

Lent was one of the reasons I started too. I'm holding out at least until I get a WD. We'll see after that!

My pastor at church today talked about purity and said that watching porn can be toxic not only immediately, but for expectations you have in relationships, both current and future. I found myself agreeing with that, but I was curious as to what you guys thought about it. Do you feel that porn has shaped the way you interact with partners, both current and potential?

Everyone has their opinion and I try to remind myself not to enforce it on others.

I have the same opinion as you. Porn enforces unrealistic expectations and develops a bad dependence that is increasingly more difficult to satisfy as time progresses.

I consider myself lucky as porn really didn't fizz on me the few times I experimented with it.

This idea struck me, too, so I MBed last time on Ash Wednesday . I'm going for 1-4. and maybe 5.
I hope that ABing for 40 days may help me to finally stop MBing.

Glad you're motivated. At the end of the day, it's a decision that you make. Never feel like you're powerless against your urges. You can always tell yourself no, even when it feels impossible.
