Has anyone here found that they have more wet dreams after they wake up and go back to sleep?Or are your wet dreams more frequent by randomly occuring during the night?

The reason I ask is because there is a method within the lucid dreaming world where you are advised to wake up after 4-6 hours of sleep, and return to sleep about fifteen minutes to an hour later. This method helps you re-enter REM sleep, which can induce dreams. What if wet dreams are more likely to occur after re-entering sleep? :think:

Forum member dampDreams included some interesting information in his journal about the timing of WDs to REM. See viewtopic.php?f=9&t=6300 for more. The issue is: how do you get to REM? Some guys have great difficulty with that. I also have a post about melatonin (found here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6108), as that is often cited as an aid to REM.

hmm... I am not sure about intentionally waking up. I do believe going to bed early and more sleep is better. If WD's happen while sleeping it seems like you should be more likely to get a WD if you sleep more rather than less. I have not had a lot of wet dreams but the ones I have had I think were mostly halfway through the night or more towards when I was waking up. I think this is when you get more regular dreams too. I know at least once I woke up in the morning then fell back asleep and a short while later got a WD :). I know I have read of others having that happen to them also.

Anyone with a lot of WD's or other experiences have any thoughts?

My WD's usually occur between 1 1/2 and 2 hours after I go to bed. Most nights I don't wake up beforehand. I've been following my sleep patterns using my Up24 Fitness band by Jawbone. I started posting the sleep chart on the nights I have WD's. (viewtopic.php?f=9&t=6382) I've only posted 2 so far but I don't really see a pattern. The one I had last night occurred after I woke up 2 or 3 times before. I don't remember waking up until the WD.

I always tended to have my wds early in the morning before waking up, and when I had a few more after my teenage years, they were after waking up to use the bathroom or get a drink of water or something.

I have been keeping some new data recently with regards to this particular topic, and I don't think I have discerned a pattern yet.

Some nights a WD will happen at the end of a long phase of sleep (3-4 hours) - and others are like this morning, when I woke up at 4:45am, sort of went to sleep (I think) and then woke up at 5:00am with a WD in progress. I often think these types of WD are the most intense... which makes me wonder whether it's even possible to get into REM sleep after 15 minutes, and therefore whether REM sleep is involved at all...

Sleep is not one of my specialisms, unfortunately.

To my knowledge, it's definitely possible to re-enter REM sleep within 15 minutes if that's shortly after you have slept for a few hours. Your "sort of went to sleep (I think)" definitely means you were not totally awake and still remained in very light sleep.
