I do not know if this is the best place to post this question, and if not here than you can delete it admin (after I get a proper answer please)

I am always so confused what time zone the forum is....

I personally am located in illinois with of course central time, but I see the most recent post is tomm morning or evening, when it is only 2 or 3 pm central time here....

or another example it said I posted a reply at 949 am on sunday, when I know it was more like 5 or 6 pm saturday night

I could of course do a general time zone calculator online but to say the exact time zone or location (ex: central time zone has the chicago location) the forum is set to would help with my confusion

I suspect that the Board's time zone is set to Australian Eastern (or Daylight) Standard Time, which is my time here in Oz. However, the board is hosted in Michigan, USA, so the time as displayed on your PC/Device may be MI time.
You can set the time that is displayed on the the forum in the board preferences section of the User Control Panel. This will convert all times displayed to the zone that you chose.

Like I said, I suspect that is how it works, so I could be wrong.

Not MI time because it would be only an hour ahead of Illinois time, I think.

I'm from Michigan and it's Wednesday Apr. 9th 8:14pm right now and at the top of my screen it says it's Thu Apr 10 12:12am

It depends what time zone is set in the board preferences in the user control panel - you can set it to any time zone you choose.

I think I figured it out but I could be wrong

when you are logged in it shows the board time as your time zone, but if you arent, it shows the board time and any time anyone posted as the australia time....

but I could be wrong on this theory

That makes sense. When you are logged in it definately shows all times as the time zone that is specified in the user control panel (all times are shown as relevant to the time specfied in the UCP. For example, if a user posts at a time that is three hours behind your time, it will show your time - as in the UCP - minus 3 hours.) When not logged in as a registered user, then the times shown would be the board time which i s set to Australian Daylight Saving Time.
