I don't understand why the measurements for this seem to be biased towards extreme length? surely that's not average?

I'm sure it's not average--but maybe the guys who are responding are not the average for the guys here, either. Frankly, I'm more interested in knowing what's "average" with our group, so if anyone is thinking about it, go ahead and provide your stats; it'll help even out our numbers.

Probably a combination of self selection bias since larger guys are going to be more willing to answer/brag and smaller guys are not going to be contributing as much, or it's faulty measurements.

Apparently even on forums like this everyone has a giant penis.

If you google "do I have a small penis?" it's a bunch of 13 year olds asking whether or not their 9" cock is small. All polls like this on the internet have silly answers.

I don't get it. Most guys are average sized and within an inch of each other, so who cares if you're average? I'd understand if someone didn't want to broadcast to the world that they had a small dick but why would anyone care that they have the same sized dick that everyone else does?

Collectively the giant people in this thread are lying too. There's no way of knowing who is lying and who is telling the truth, but most are lying. Or maybe everyone is actually really small and thought it was in centimeters. :p Or maybe we should call the Guiness Book of World Records to hold the record as the most well endowed forum in the universe and rename the site HorseForum.com.

Statistically, a great majority should be in the 5-6" range and some people should be in the 6-7" range. In a small group like this the other categories would be very unlikely to be used. That the chart even has so many options for the higher lengths is silly. It should have gone by half inches since 6.1" is big but normal, and 6.9" is not normal.

Many guys would care to learn that they are "average." The fact it, most guys today don't have any idea what is truly "average," and often tend to underestimate where they fit on that scale. If a guy feels insecure bec the only other erect penises he's seen are the abnormally large ones you typically see in porn, then he may feel incompetent or undesirable, when in fact, he nay actually be well off, or at least avg. Knowing that can boost his self-esteem and self-image. There is comfort in realizing that you are normal and average--you can feel assured that what you have is just right to get the job done well, so to speak!

Your stats are right; check out this older thread here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2907&hilit=equipment+check and you will see a bell curve that reflects what seems to be an accurate distribution of size down there. If most guys on this site exaggerated their size, then the curve there would be skewed higher, and not reflect the findings of other studies, which it does. I think guys here are being more honest than you may realize, at least on the Equipment Check poll. There is another one that measures girth, as well. Both have pretty decent sample sizes, too.

Maybe people are all measuring differently, that might answer it. Maybe someone can suggest a standardised way of measuring so people can make sure we are all doing the same

Yeah I definitely think it's good for people to know what the size of their penis is compared to other guys. I just don't think it's good for guys to go out of their way to lie on a voluntary survey and skew the results. If anyone actually believed the lengths that are always given on surveys like this everyone would think they were small. It's some kind of self fulfilling prophecy or something, where guys think they're small so they post fake numbers, and then other guys see the fake numbers and think they're small and post their own fake numbers, and over and over. idk

The difference between the two polls though, is that one is asking how big you are and one is asking how knowledgeable you are. To give the "most impressive" answer to the first, you give an exaggerated length, and to give the most impressive answer to the second, you give the most correct answer.

Anyway I don't mean to make a scene, I just wanted to make it clear to anyone who thought these numbers were collectively accurate that they're not.

I hear what you're saying, quebley, and I agree with you in that I'm sure a lot of guys "round up" when it comes to sharing their penis size (or simply don't know how to do it properly in the first place, like measuring the underside, pushing their balls back as far as they can go, ha), and it sucks how doing that can start a chain reaction of other guys doing it, too, bec they want to appear to be as "normal" as the other guys (who happened to exaggerate in the first place).

But I also think you're making a huge assumption that most guys are doing that, especially that most guys are rounding up a significant amount, like adding an extra inch to their actual length. I don't know how you can prove that that is so. My point was that the Equipment Check polls here (which I started) have had a couple hundred guys respond over some length of time now, and their results compare to those done scientifically. That says to me that most guys ARE being honest, otherwise the bell curve there would be skewed higher, making it look like the mean average was 7" or so, instead of right around 6". So I'm suggesting that more guys here than not are being honest w/their size. On a poll, it's anonymous, so no one else knows who you are. In this thread, a person has to post as themself when they share these measurements, so a guy might be more likely to exaggerate his size, since now other guys will know his specific measurements.

But the other fact is, a lot of guys ARE big, ha. At least bigger than average. An average size is just that--average. If the average guy's penis btwn 5.75" -- 6.25" long erect, measured along the top, from the base at his pubic bone/hair, to the tip (the "proper" way to measure length), then you have to realize that most guys will be right around there, but there will be a split amount of guys who will be shorter than that, and also a roughly even amount of guys who will be longer than that. So, there are probably as many guys who are around 7" long as are around 5". And just as there are a few adult guys who are under 5" erect, there are a few who are 8", etc. My cousin is around 8" and my old roommate was around 9"! They do exist. And these are both white guys, ha. But they are the outliers for sure. And guys who are more well endowed are probably more likely to be comfortable to share their size data on a forum like this, bec it's something they are proud of--no one is going to make fun of them for having a huge d*ck! ha Guys who are smaller or even average may feel insecure about it, even though most guys wouldn't say anything bad about it, but we are just afraid of that, so they may be less likely to share. Which, unfortunately, makes it seem either like everyone else is so huge, or everyone else must be exaggerating about their penis size. I'm just saying that sure, some guys probably are giving a bigger than real size, either intentionally or through ignorance on how to measure it right, but I'm also saying that guys who legitimately are bigger than average are also simply more likely to be willing to share that on a forum like this.

I agree that people who are bigger will have more confidence to post their numbers. I could have posted h3 or h4 but I went with the lower one as it's more accurate.
There are countless research papers out there that show the same averages. Porn says otherwise and we all know how accurate porn is! Size certainly doesn't effect the pursuit of WD anyway!

Mattyheart, the penis length is measured from the base of the penis as you're looking down on it where it meets the pelvic bone, to the glans ("head") of your penis. The penis is measured from the top of the penis (the part you can see, again looking down). Don't push the ruler/tape measure into the skin, because this also skews the length. Just press it softly against the skin. Then measure out.

Meanwhile where are the 4" measurements to counter the 8's and 9's? I think it comes from bigger guys are more willing to share and some people measuring improperly.

Actually as you will notice in your video they do press it in to create a "bone pressed" measurement, which is often what is reported to account for variation in fat pads down there. It may seem like "cheating" for appearance, but remember the fat pad gets compressed in action so it's more accurate from the perspective of usable size. And yeah, if your non-pressed size is already way above the average you probably don't care anyway.

I guess I will add my details to this.

Just to be clear I got confused if this was BP or NBP measurement so I measured on the top of my dick with ruler resting against my lig (which is just visible on erection) and not pressed but gently resting. This is somewhat smaller than the just to the side of the lig on top of the penis bone pressed length, lol. Shrug - I gues this is what people get to see haha
