It depends on what you are trying to quit. You had an orgasm so if you are aiming for true AB then it does count. However if you are trying to quit the usual PMO habit, then it doesn't. Especially so if you weren't fantasising and were just enjoying your own sensations.

My main goal is to quit PMO. Have managed a long time without P but am still struggling with MO. I think I'm still going to count this as I _could_ have prevented it by stepping out of the shower or something. So, resetting my counter to 0.

Also if you stood there right in the water jet makes a difference too.. I feel like it's like kegeling and having an orgasm, like you didn't stop when you knew that would be the outcome, right? It's not an SE if you wanted it!

any sort of stimulation to orgasm is pretty much masturbating. however doing it once will not necessarily hold you back that much, perhaps not at all. it's been documented on here that it's the many orgasms you continuously have that will affect your wd rate

Generally speaking, I count something as MB if I brought myself to orgasm on purpose. So I'd say it matters what exactly happened while you were showering. Were you aiming the stream at your penis hoping you would get an orgasm? Or were you just having a "normal" shower and the orgasm came "spontaneously", like a surprise, like you couldn't do anything about it?

You know, I'm having the same question in all sorts of situations. There are always some cases in-between plain masturbation (sitting down and rubbing/stroking until you orgasm) and things like wet dreams where you get an orgasm but didn't stimulate yourself on purpose.

Let me give you some examples:

• Suppose I decided to sleep naked and I'm lying in my bed. I find that just moving around in my bed and rubbing my penis against the bedsheets excites me so much that I eventually orgasm. Is this MB? For myself I've decided that this is MB; I'm still doing things on purpose and I could've easily prevented it from happening.
• Now instead of going to bed naked, I'm wearing something, but during my sleep I undress, get excited more and more, wake up, and can't really stop an orgasm from happening any more. Is this MB? The best answer is "it depends", but I'd normally say that I couldn't really do anything about it, so it wasn't on purpose, so it's not MB.
• You're doing crunches and all of a sudden you feel it happening... Some people seem to call it a "coregasm" (I haven't experienced it by the way). Is that MB? Well, definitely not if it was the first time and you didn't expect it to happen. But if you know that under certain conditions you're sure to have this, you'll probably have to admit that you did it "on purpose".
• You're reading the WDF or some other site where people talk about sexual things, and it happens to turn you on. The tension builds up and even though you're not touching yourself you just get harder and harder and your penis rubs against your underwear and eventually you ejaculate. Hm, is that MB? Well, you could have decided to stop reading and just do something else. Even then, I sometimes decide not to reset my AB counter in such cases.
• You're not reading anything, just lying down trying to relax. But your thoughts wander off and all sorts of sexual things come to mind. You're getting so excited that it takes little to send you over the edge. Was that on purpose? Well, you probably could've controlled your thoughts a bit better. Again, just start concentrating on something else. This is very similar to the previous case. I sometimes tend to be forgiving of myself and not reset my counter, but if you're strict you may very well call this MB.

I think your suggestion is a good one, frankm. It's the thought that counts, in this as in so many things, in my opinion. I'm not someone who thinks masturbating is a failure or, God forbid, wrong, but I think that if you wanted to have an orgasm, and you succeeded in having an orgasm, you masturbated. Another grey area, however, might be what happens if you experience pleasure, but not orgasm, by focusing on body parts other than your penis. (I'm thinking of those of us guys with sensitive nipples, but other body parts could qualify.) Is it a productive outlet for sexual tension to enjoy the rest of your body--but not your penis--or is it just another kind of "edging"? Anyway, these are interesting questions.

I count using the shower against my AB counter, I found years ago that MBing using the adjustable settings on a movable shower head was better than the normal way.

But, since my goal is to 1. have a WD and 2. quit MBing using porn or my hands, I have done this a few times on purpose recently. I count using the shower and no hands as less likely to prevent a WD, and better than giving in completely. If anyone else has had a different result, please say.

It probably depends on your intention but I'd say stimulating yourself via your nipples is not really different from doing it via your penis (except that it works less well ). If you want an outlet for sexual tension I'd recommend exercising instead.

I had something happen to me that's debatable whether or not to reset my AB counter too.

This morning after I woke up, I decided to touch a little, which led to me edging. I got closer and closer until I got to the point where I knew I had to stop, which I did, but it was just a couple seconds too late. I leaked no more than about three drops of cum but didn't have an orgasm.. it really wasn't that pleasurable. Also I feel like this wasn't a true ejac. because like I said it was really small and didn't actually shoot out, it just kind of dribbled. I was able to stop 95% of the orgasm by contracting my pc muscles really tight (had plenty of practice doing this while edging before I started AB'ing).

After this, I was still tremendously horny and edged some more but decided to stop because I thought I might actually fall off the cliff, lol. Ever since then I've felt extremely relaxed, as if I came but like I said didn't. In fact, I'm still veryy horny right now.

I'm thinking I don't need to reset my AB counter but wanted to get everybody's opinion on what to do? Thanks.. and remember don't touch!!! haha

I think that's called a ruined orgasm, but I'm not sure. IMO, it doesn't really count as a full MB, since not much came of it.

I've noticed some disagreement about edging versus total AB as contributing toward a "pure" WD, but maybe that's me. I guess everyone has their approach to it. For me, it seems like MB/WD/MB/WD might work, since it happens pretty easily (around a week) if I don't MB.
