Showers can present a breaking point for new ABers because of:
1. You are completely naked.
2. There are no interuptions, you are completely alone.
3. You are standing under warm, wet stimulation (water).

Any one of these thimgs can be a death blow to a WD. This forum will hopefully be for expert ABer's passing down helpful tips to the new breed of WDer's. Please post a reply of how you managed a shower and even how you failed at one.

All right i guess that i will get the ball rolling. My only advise is what not to do. Watch out for a high pressure water shower head. I was ABing for about 10 days when i took a shower at a friend's house which i was watching while he was away. I turned on the water and the pressure was so strong that i couldnt resist finishing myself. My suggestion is that try to stay away from high powered shower heads for at least the first 2 weeks. Just my advice.

Excellent recommendations! So far every shower head I've encountered has been one of those low-flow, water-saving 2.5 gallons per minute max showers with a relatively puny stream. If I ever find a real high pressure shower, I could see your point to be careful as that might be quite a "shock" to one's body.

Thanks Scott for commenting on this. I have another piece of advice. When you start to get a hard on, take your hands and start shampooing your hair. Now, you might run out of shampoo in the first week of AB, but you know what the shampoo bottles say: ‘Lather, Rinse, and Repeat.’

The most important thing is to decide what's your AB goal and why. If you really want to AB, shower can't stop you. But if you are looking for more specific shower advices, then i have a few of them:
1) Wash your penis as quickly as possible, don't touch it more than necessary.
2) Don't touch it when it's hard.
3) In case of emergency use cold water.

Real quick, just thought I'd throw in a couple of my own techniques:

Sometimes I will put a time limit on myself in the shower. Lately I've been trying to see if I can beat my previous days time. It seems to get me motivated to take a quicker shower, which results in less time naked and alone. Occasionally I'll listen to music in the shower. When I do, I always try to finish within a certain number of songs. Or even just thinking about the music will help me get my mind off the temptations.

You could try taking a colder shower, that way you wouldn't be as stimulated. Also have things you need to do after the shower, to make sure you're not taking too much time.

I can understand about being careful with arousal to avoid the temptation to MB. But I think getting away from the MB habit enables a guy to separate his horniness and the enjoyment of his body from a desire to MB. Then he can enjoy taking long showers, and maybe not even feel a need to get dressed before going to sleep after an evening shower.

I'm sure that full time WDers are more likely to take pleasure in long showers than try to get in and out of the shower as quickly as possible. Imagine being out of the MB habit and looking forward to your next WD while taking a nice relaxing shower and having no interest in MB. Then going to sleep and having a WD that is much better than any MB.

Don't just deny yourself MB, get beyond it and see it as a waste of time and energy.

Just remembered something: under no circumstances should you ever sit on the bottom of the shower. Some people like to sit on the bottom and let the warm water hit them and relax the body without having to stand. Well with most people the position with the best feeling for MB is while sitting down as apposed to standing. So, just dont sit down and you will be good.

So I'm not the only one with this problem! I managed to resist temptation during my shower tonight, but this is only Day 2 for me, so I know it'll get harder from here. "In case of emergency, use cold water." I like that one, that certainly does the trick if all else fails!

Luckily, I've never developed a habit of masturbating in the shower. Only on very rare occasions, so it's not much of a temptation for me.

Haha me either, in fact I don't like doing it standing up at all cuz I get dizzy. the problem with showers is getting horny in the shower and what happens when I get out of the shower.

I did develop a habit of MBing in the shower, because I have a removable, high pressure showerhead. When ABing, I first had to never point it at myself, and later on I learned to enjoy only the feeling of the water, and not of actually ejaculating. I still can't point it at myself for more than a few seconds, though.

Normally I don't have problems getting tempted while showering; I have gotten into the habit of taking colder showers over the last couple of years.

I had serious habit of MBing in the shower, so it's probably the hardest (pun intended) part for me. Very tempted yesterday, but turning the shower down to freezing cold did the trick.

This is kind of tough for me and perhaps for other uncut guys because if we clean the penis properly, it entails actually washing (with just water or a gentle soap) the head of the penis, which can feel like stimulation... I just get it over with as quickly as possible and try not to think sexually at all
