Porn and Sexuality

Hey guys, I joined this site as added motivation for me to quit looking at porn cuz I feel like it was messing with my head! Part of this was that I was hooked on gay porn, even though I have only ever wanted a relationship with a girl. The gay porn seemed hot and taboo but in real life I don't think I could kiss a guy or anything like that. Part of this was that straight porn is so over the top that it was a turn off. But I suppose I can't rule out that I'm at least bi-curious. So, anyways, I was just wondering what type of porn others look at when they watch, and if it correlates to sexuality.

I suppose I must technically be bisexual, because I can get turned on by gay or straight porn, but I would still much rather watch straight porn, and I have only ever had relationships with women and can't imagine it any other way.
Sexuality is far more of a continuum than I think anyone ever realised.

i answered straight/straight but ANYTHING sexual will turn me on it dont matter what it is. though i rarely watch gay porn I often say watching gay porn no more makes me gay than looking at vegetables makes me a vegetarian.

The more porn I see, the more turns me off. I certainly don't buy into the idea that you get drawn into more and more extreme stuff. As if you might start looking at two nice lads being a bit friendly and end up wanking to the sight of two horrible, thunder-faced walruses in leather chaps fisting in a dungeon! Laughing like mad, perhaps, at the notion anyone could regard it as sexy. I suspect quite a lot of porn is produced for its camp value.
There is way too much of it and I suppose there is a trend towards pushing the limits. If I'm clicking my way through a lot of images, some nights, it's usually in search of something that looks human, undirected and real.
I doubt if many people are quite the blanks that these articles claim or that our sexuality is quite so pliable. Pop-trough-culture is now so saturated in hetero-sleaze that we might wonder why anyone becomes gay at all, if lewd visibility is so significant.

I'm a bit suspicious of that site as well. There is some evidence cited, but most of the really controversial things are just asserted as if they are fact - but it's actually the writer's agenda.
Porn is not a good thing really... but let's face it, it has been around for a very long time in some form or another and humanity survives. I think most normal people realise that at the end of the day it's just a representation of something they are doing themselves anyway in their own lives. It satisfies our own slightly voyeuristic impulses of wondering whether what we experience on our own is what everyone else experiences. Yes, this can lead to certain hang-ups (size, anyone?) - but an almighty number of non-sexual things can make people feel inadequate or somehow not normal too.
Yes, it's possible to get "addicted" but unless it's actually disrupting your life in a serious way - you can't live without it, and you are sacrificing normal life, socialisation, friendships for it - then looking at it is not going to damage you in any way.
Bit like all those myths about masturbation really....

I respectfully disagree with Wiwux as well. As a recovering addict, I can attest that my viewing habits grew in duration and extremeness. At this point, it is still a daily reaffirmation of my commitment to say sexually sober for today.
Good advice, The95Percent. Internet filters are also helpful for many recovering addicts. The Power Point on the web site yourbrainonporn.com explains why porn, and internet porn specifically, is so addictive, more so than alcohol or drugs.

I think this topic is really interesting. I have watched gay and straight porn and been in relationships with men and women. Overall...porn is not good! Well, to excess. The problem I see with porn nowadays, though it HAS been around since the dawn of time, is now it is totally accessible and most importantly, anonymous. Yes there was porn in the 1800s but you had to go and seek it out. Now, all you have to do is be home on a computer, verify that you're 18 (even though I started watching much earlier than this) and you're on your way to millions of free streaming videos of anything you like. It can now be abused so quickly. Now, onto the other thing I noticed while reading this, it's very interesting to me that there are a lot of straight dudes watching gay porn. You sure about that? hahaha Could it really be that gay porn is the next "extreme" to go to once you've gotten your fill of straight porn? And you would honestly never do anything with a dude in real life but get turned on watching a dude beat off in some video? So...is online porn like the new jail? Straight men would never think about another man sexually unless it's in that sort of extreme environment i.e. jail or the privacy of your own home. Sexuality is so incredibly interesting to me.

Well, I watched one or two gay porns before, but it didn't give me the "joy" that straight porns gave to me. Now I don't watch porn(broke that habit, thankfully), but if I would watch a porn again, I would prefer straight ones.

I don't deny there are sex-addicts, just as there are alcoholics who end up drinking meths.
But the notion that porn tends to lead all users to the dungeon by increments is ridiculous.
Sex will destroy some people, gambling others, drugs and alcohol the majority . . .
Actually I did know a lad who claimed that he had "gayed" himself by means of a weekend online (!)
But it requires a certain predisposition to sit down to "gay" yourself in the first place.
All right, it enables people to discover vices they didn't know existed before.

I couldn't agree more. I have never understood what could be agaist porn. I watch it regularly, but the worst or best porn is not labelled porn. It's football. Luckily, male sexuality is so powerfull it can turn all into porn it chooses.

I agree with you. I recently have watched bisexual porn. I consider myself straight.I really enjoy 2 guys doing one girl. But during some scenes you do see the male performers doing sexual acts towards each other. It kind of weird seeing another guy take it up the bunghole.

I vote other because i dont watch porn. Im straight.
I was taught( religiously) porn is bad, and thats probably the one thing i have followed. I now have no need for it all, because i am abstaining. I didnt need it when i used to mb. The feelings were enough for me if i concentrated on them. Yea.... No porn for me.

Hey guys, I joined this site as added motivation for me to quit looking at porn cuz I feel like it was messing with my head! Part of this was that I was hooked on gay porn, even though I have only ever wanted a relationship with a girl. The gay porn seemed hot and taboo but in real life I don't think I could kiss a guy or anything like that. Part of this was that straight porn is so over the top that it was a turn off. But I suppose I can't rule out that I'm at least bi-curious. So, anyways, I was just wondering what type of porn others look at when they watch, and if it correlates to sexuality.

I suppose I must technically be bisexual, because I can get turned on by gay or straight porn, but I would still much rather watch straight porn, and I have only ever had relationships with women and can't imagine it any other way.

The more porn I see, the more turns me off. I certainly don't buy into the idea that you get drawn into more and more extreme stuff. As if you might start looking at two nice lads being a bit friendly and end up wanking to the sight of two horrible, thunder-faced walruses in leather chaps fisting in a dungeon! Laughing like mad, perhaps, at the notion anyone could regard it as sexy. I suspect quite a lot of porn is produced for its camp value.
There is way too much of it and I suppose there is a trend towards pushing the limits. If I'm clicking my way through a lot of images, some nights, it's usually in search of something that looks human, undirected and real.

I'm a bit suspicious of that site as well. There is some evidence cited, but most of the really controversial things are just asserted as if they are fact - but it's actually the writer's agenda.
Porn is not a good thing really... but let's face it, it has been around for a very long time in some form or another and humanity survives. I think most normal people realise that at the end of the day it's just a representation of something they are doing themselves anyway in their own lives. It satisfies our own slightly voyeuristic impulses of wondering whether what we experience on our own is what everyone else experiences. Yes, this can lead to certain hang-ups (size, anyone?) - but an almighty number of non-sexual things can make people feel inadequate or somehow not normal too.
Yes, it's possible to get "addicted" but unless it's actually disrupting your life in a serious way - you can't live without it, and you are sacrificing normal life, socialisation, friendships for it - then looking at it is not going to damage you in any way.
Bit like all those myths about masturbation really....

I respectfully disagree with Wiwux as well. As a recovering addict, I can attest that my viewing habits grew in duration and extremeness. At this point, it is still a daily reaffirmation of my commitment to say sexually sober for today.

I think this topic is really interesting. I have watched gay and straight porn and been in relationships with men and women. Overall...porn is not good! Well, to excess. The problem I see with porn nowadays, though it HAS been around since the dawn of time, is now it is totally accessible and most importantly, anonymous. Yes there was porn in the 1800s but you had to go and seek it out. Now, all you have to do is be home on a computer, verify that you're 18 (even though I started watching much earlier than this) and you're on your way to millions of free streaming videos of anything you like. It can now be abused so quickly. Now, onto the other thing I noticed while reading this, it's very interesting to me that there are a lot of straight dudes watching gay porn. You sure about that? hahaha Could it really be that gay porn is the next "extreme" to go to once you've gotten your fill of straight porn? And you would honestly never do anything with a dude in real life but get turned on watching a dude beat off in some video? So...is online porn like the new jail? Straight men would never think about another man sexually unless it's in that sort of extreme environment i.e. jail or the privacy of your own home. Sexuality is so incredibly interesting to me.

I couldn't agree more. I have never understood what could be agaist porn. I watch it regularly, but the worst or best porn is not labelled porn. It's football. Luckily, male sexuality is so powerfull it can turn all into porn it chooses.

I vote other because i dont watch porn. Im straight.
I was taught( religiously) porn is bad, and thats probably the one thing i have followed. I now have no need for it all, because i am abstaining. I didnt need it when i used to mb. The feelings were enough for me if i concentrated on them. Yea.... No porn for me.
