I tend to get SEs more so than WDs so I chose 1-2 months because I guess the SEs count as an ejaculation. Otherwise, I would have chosen 2-3 months.

Another good point. For people who have SEs, they shouldn't count them as breaking their abstinence. By SE (spontaneous ejaculation) I mean ejaculations that are completely involuntary; for example, an involuntary ejaculation that happens accidentally at work, at the gym, when driving, etc. An involuntary ejaculation that happens when edging, watching porn, having sex, etc. shouldn’t be considered a SE. Probably the distinction here is that the former is without intent, while the latter is with some intent to gratify oneself.

To abstain means “to refrain voluntarily” from something. A person can't abstain from something that is involuntary.

If you abstained for exactly 2 months, for example, then choose 2-3 months rather than 1-2 months.

Actually you should put 1-2 months for that. If 2 months is 60 days than that would count as 2 full months (except those with 31 days, so even saying "month" is not precise). If it happened on day 61 then I would pick 2-3 months.

I may take this into consideration when I revise this poll (probably at the end of this year.) For now I can live with this discrepancy. A person who abstained for “2 months” (60 days), for example, can only (at most) be off by +2 days or -1 day — which is insignificant when compared to the length of time abstained.

I feel 1 month is fair as the lowest option. I didn’t include the option of less than 1 month because it could also mean that most people in that range didn’t get a wet dream. This wouldn’t be surprising for individuals who didn’t abstain long. This poll is really meant for the people who abstained for a long time and didn’t get a wet dream, although I can see how those who abstained and got a wet dream can also vote in this poll. It’s arbitrary if a person waited for, say, 10 months to get a wet dream, or if they waited for 10 months and didn’t get a wet dream at all. Either way, it says something when a person abstains for 10 months and doesn’t get a wet dream within that time. If there were a lot of votes under 1 month it wouldn’t really tell you anything because it would be uncertain how many of those individuals had a wet dream.

I agree with Lucid, that's exactly how I viewed it: for someone who sees the weeks go by without a release, how long can it take. If it happens within a month, it just means you're young, normal and lucky I think a more appropriate poll for the youngsters would be one that shows how long a regular masturbator (under 20 I'd say) had to wait until the first WD occurred. (0-5, 6-10, 11-15 etc.) That could be a source of motivation if they see that, for example, on average it takes 15 days.
On the other hand, the present poll doesn't even say that the voter succeeded in having a WD! It may be implied for some, but I'd bet many just gave up after "X" amount of time. For example, I just switched categories (2-3 > 3-4) but last year I had NOT, and still haven't had that WD to this day...

Since there was some uncertainty over the meaning of one’s “Longest Abstinence w/o Wet Dream” I have revised this poll.

This current poll still asks the question “What’s the longest time you abstained from ejaculation without getting a wet dream?” but it is divided into two parts:

A) Those that did get a wet dream at the “end” of their longest abstinence, and

B) Those that didn’t get a wet dream at all during their longest abstinence.

Please see the first post of this thread for more detailed instructions.

I also decided to include three options for abstinences under 1 month, thus reducing the number of long term options. Judging from the last poll results, there probably won’t be that many votes beyond the 6 month range anyways.

Hopefully this revised poll will be more informative than the original poll. Thanks for voting.

i only voted for part (B) of the poll.

i only had one WD so far, that was when i was 12 years old, before i started to MB. since then, i have been MB-ing and not have any WD.

the longest i have abstained was for 3 months, from May 1st 09 to Aug 1st 09, no WD for me.

I'm now starting once again, today (Dec 9th 09) is my 9th day of abstinence, and my new year resolution is to quit MB permanently and let WD take over my life. I have MB for the past 7 years, it's time for me to stop.

Does anyone think I should keep this current poll running past March 31? The revisions I have in mind for this poll are narrowing the range of the abstention times (15, 30, 45, 60, 75 days) and also taking age into account (teens, adults.) The new poll would only have an upper limit of 75 days rather than 7 months.

Edit: (April 1) I’m still undecided about the changes I’m going to make and when.

this is an interesting survy Lucid did. I voted wd within 2 weeks... but have gone up to 2 months with no wd.

I took a look at the data and see that for those guys that finally got a wet dream, 40 percent have had waits of over a month for a wet dream. Two thirds of the guys have had wd's that they have waited more than 3 weeks for.

Conversely in the no wet dream category, 60 percent of the guys gave up after no more than 3 weeks.
